The programme was designed to allow BulbAmerica's 150,000+ customers to earn points that can be used to purchase the company's products for free.

Customers earn points with every purchase, and these points are automatically credited to the customer's loyalty account.

Points can also be earned on a range of other occasions, such as customer birthdays (which attract a bonus of 100 points), and when they complete point-worthy online activities. Among the activities which attract reward points are: referring a friend, signing up for the programme, and writing product reviews.

After earning sufficient numbers of points, they can be redeemed instantly at the checkout and applied toward any purchase in-store.

The company has also embraced social media marketing by making it an integral part of the programme. For example, for every 'Like' on Facebook or a '+1' on Google+, users earn an extra 50 points, and those who share the same information with friends via email also earn 50 points.
